Lot 1215

Circa 1862-65 Confederate States of America watermarked paper captured during the Civil War. This large sheet of paper (unfolded approximately 16" X 12+") has the C.S.A. watermark in several locations, and this paper was destined for the Confederacy to be made into currency. With the Union embargo of the Confederacy, the British ship which was carrying the paper was captured and the paper seized as illegal contraband. After the war, some of this paper came to light, much to the delight of todays collector.
Estimated Value $150-UP.
