China - Taiwan Province (Formosa). Ration Silver Dollar, ND. (1853). K-2. Vase with leaves. Four characters "Prefectural Treasury, Military Rations." Character on urn "Currency." Reverse: Two lotus flower hair ornaments crossed. Four characters at sides "Pure pattern, for general circulation." Two incuse characters above and below "Prosperity" and "6" Only engraver's mark on reverse. Moderately toned with slightly porous surfaces. No chopmarks, thus Very Rare. Choice Very Fine.

Produced by Lin Kung in the third Year of Hsien Feng (1853) during the uprising in Fung-shan district, Formosa.
