Great Britain. Gold Crown, ND. S.2624; Fr-236. 2.41g. James I, 1603-1625. Second issue, first bust. Mint mark, escallop. Struck in the period 1606-1607, this small and beautifully struck coin was one of the earlier of King James's gold issues. This coin has a rounded bust and a square beard. Also known as the 'Britain Crown' this coin is often found bent, pierced or mounted. Whereas lower grade examples are not difficult to obtain, high quality examples are quite rare. Pop 1; The only one graded at PCGS. Photo in the Pop Report. PCGS graded AU-53. Estimated Value $1,250 - UP
