Earliest of, Marcus Aurelius, 161-180 AD, AE 24 mm. of Nicaea, Bythinia: Laureate head right / Athena stands left, holding owl and spear, shield at feet; BMC --; SNG Cop. --; von Aulock --. Attractive Greek-style portrait, and pleasing green patina. Also, Gordian III, 238-244 AD, AE 33 mm. of Antiochia, Psidia. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Goddess seated right, holdign branch (Pax?); SNG Cop. --; von Aulock --; Krzynzanovska --. Sharp strike on spacious flan. Green and brown patina. Large coin Choice Very Fine, other better.
