Imperatorial Rome. Julius Caesar, d. 44 BC. AR Denarius, struck in Italy 49 BC. Elephant right, trampling serpent; CAESAR below. Reverse: Simpulum, sprinkler, axe, and apex. Craw. 443/1; BMCRR Gaul 27. Obverse somewhat off center but device complete. An especially even and fully detailed strike. Pleasing light toning. Extremely Fine.
