Phoenicia. Tyre, c. 336-306 BC. AR Didrachm (8.8 g), struck c. 299/298 BC. Melkaart riding hippocamp right; beneath, double line of waves, and dolphin below. Reverse: Owl standing right, head facing, holding Egyptian flail and crook; date (year 33) in right field. BMC p. 232, 38. Boldly struck devices. The obverse off center, along with a few scratches, mostly along the edges. Toned. Very Fine.
