Thrace. Island of Thasos, after 146 BC. AR Tetradrachm (16.8 g). Head of youthful Dionysus right, hair wreathed in ivy. Reverse: Herakles stands left, holding club and lionskin; inscription and ethnic around, monogram at left. Dewing 1344; SNG Cop. 1040 var. Bold, sharp strike on choice metal, with artistic toning. A very appealing example. Choice Very Fine.
