Calabria. Tarentum, c. 281-272 BC. AR Nomos (6.6 g). Nude warrior on horseback right, being crowned by Nike flying left; at left ΣI, magistrate's name below. Reverse: Taras on dolphin left, holding kantharos and trident; at right, ΓY (retrograde), ethnic below. Vlasto 728f; SNG ANS 1092ff. From old collection: quite well struck up, and deeply toned. With old dealer's ticket (French), the back with somewhat later inked notation of $24. Extremely Fine.
