Lot 2697

1921 Alabama Half Dollar, with 2 x 2. NGC graded MS-66. Awash in bright luster and well struck too, with no signs of toning on either side. This one is quite sharp, and a glass really shows how superb the surfaces are when closely examined. Note that this issue was struck in 1921, long before there were large numbers of serious collectors, and hence most were mishandled over the generations. This particular one remains as fresh and bright as the day it was coined. NGC has graded only 12 this high, with none graded higher. Always in strong demand for the 2X2 in the right obverse field, and very difficult to find in anything even approaching gem grades.
Estimated Value $3,000 - 3,500.
