Lot 2248

1806 Draped Bust Half Dollar. 6 over 5. PCGS graded AU-53. High in the condition census for this variety, this lovely example will please most collectors for the lilac gray tones and luster in the protected areas. Further, the hair on Liberty is well struck, and this would appear to be an early die state (prior to lapping) which shows minor clash marks on both sides, and a thin die crack through the N of UNITED, down the diagonal into the field above the arrow points. Extensive die rust is present around the obverse periphery. One small speck below the end of the branch shows light pin scratching, visible only with a strong glass. Certainly a very important coin for the specialist, and worthy of a strong bid for it color and surfaces.
Estimated Value $1,500 - 1,800.

Realized $2,300
