Lot 1855

Johnson's California Territories of New Mexico and Utah. 1862, by Johnson and Browning. A desirable map. Original color. Folds with minor separation at top and bottom center; minor, faint, scattered foxing. Matted and framed to 30 x 24". Not examined out of frame, appears to be in very good condition.
A beautiful map with great historical interest: trader and trapper routes are shown with comments; California is shown in great detail, with many towns and landmarks noted; other notes of interest can be found, i.e. "Silver is found in this region" and "This vast Unexplored Region of country is supposed to be inhabited by tribes of Indians." Of particular interest is the placement of Arizona at the bottom 1/3 of New Mexico.
Estimated Value $400 - 500.

Realized $690
