Early, Jubal Anderson. Signature and chest portrait carte de visite mounted and framed to 8¾x 8¾". The signature ("J.A. Early / Lynchburg / Virginia") is clear and flowing, the only flaw is a small stain in the blank field to the right of the signature. The cdv is quite toned, but clear, and there are two small areas of foxing in the fields to the right and top of the image. The cdv appears to be a version of a frequently seen image of Early in his uniform, although in this picture the cropping and shading make it impossible to see the stars on his collar. Overall, very good to fine condition. In spite of Early's long life, his is a scarce signature.
