Archer, James Jay. Carte de visite and cdv copy matted and framed with signed document to 16 x 12". The original cdv features a chest portrait of the general in uniform; there is minor toning and faint foxing, but otherwise this is in very good condition. The cdv copy features a pre-War portrait of the General. The signed document ("J.J. Archer) is an apparent fine copy of a receipt, dated May 27, 1859, which bears his rank "Capt" and what appears to be the unit designation. One horizontal crease, one faint area of toning above text, else fine. A scarce signature.
