Caracalla. Æ 29mm (13.23 g), AD 198-217. Tavium in Galatia. ANTΩ(NE)INOC [AVΓOVC], laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Caracalla left, holding spear and shield decorated with a gorgoneion. Reverse: CEB TPO TAOVIANΩN / AΛVC, the river-god Halys reclining left on pile of rocks from which water flows, holding stern and reed. Cf. SNG BN 2671-3 (same obv. type) and 2654 (same rev. type, but of Septimius Severus). BMC -. Possibly unpublished. Dark greenish-brown patina. Extremely Fine. Estimated Value $500 - UP
