Judaea, Herodian Kingdom. Herod I. Æ 8 Prutot (7.10 g), 40 BCE-4 CE. Uncertain mint in Samaria, RY 3 (38/7 BCE). BAΣIΛEΩΣ HPΩΔOY, tripod lebes; in left field, date (L Γ); in right field, monogram. Reverse: Helmet with cheek guards surmounted by star; above to either side, palm branch. Hendin 6204; TJC 44. Uniform dark greenish-brown patina. Rare in such high grade. Extremely Fine.
