Stalin Prize. 1st Class. Documented set to Leonid Davidovich Tubelskiy. Complete set with GOLD (23K) Medal, small and large Award Document and original issue box. The large certificate enclosed in a fine quality leather folder with a gold-plated bas relief of Stalin and Lenin on the cover, a citation from the Council of Ministers of the USSR, photo portrait of Stalin and his facsimile signature. The small certificate, bound in leather, contains a photo of the recipient. Awarded March 7, 1950; Certificate #1273. Estimated Value $7,500 - UP
Condition: Some scuffs to box, the documents and medal in Excellent condition.
This medal was awarded to screenwriter Leonid Tubelskiy for his work in scripting the 1949 propaganda war film â€The Meeting on the Elbeâ€. Set during the final days of World War II, in which Soviet and American forces meet as friends and depart as Cold War enemies, the film was directed by the well-noted Grigoriy Aleksandrov.
