Two Exceptionally Rare Ch'ien Lung Porcelain Pieces for the American Market ca. 1790; Very Rare Biscuit Jar and One Small Dish. Outstanding examples and exceptionally rare pieces of Ch'ien Lung porcelain created for the American market in the 1790's. The decoration is amorial but is not heavily weighted with heraldic elements. An ermine-lined blue mantle surrounds the shield, the border also in a deep blue enamel. The initials are "GW or possible GML". That these pieces were shipped her on sail ships, then used daily for well into the 1800s, and then kept in break-fronts or cabinet, the condition is remarkable. The handles on the biscuit jar - one is miraculously intact, the other professionally and discretely repaired with original pieces that are visible only at very close inspection. The dish is without issues save for rubbing on some of the gilt as is the case with the jar. Biscuit jar is 6½ x 4 x 4" (with lid) and the dish is 1.5 x 5.5 x 5.5". Great pieces for collectors of Early American Chinese Export Porcelain. Estimated Value $600 - 900
