A Matched Pair of 24 Karat Yellow Gold Facsimiles of the Most Famous Roman Aureus; Brutus Perfect for Use as Earrings ca. 42 BC. Offered is one of 15 lots of 24K (tested) yellow gold facsimiles of ancient coinage from ancient Rome and Greece. Superb craftsmanship and detail make these pieces perfect for use in jewelry satisfying the most discriminating client due to their beauty and gold content. Two matched facsimiles of Roman Aureus both having Brutus facing right. There are only three known gold examples of this aureus, the last one selling for over 3 million. On the reverse shows two of the guards of March 15 symbolized by swords and a pileus cap, symbolizing freedom. 6.31 + 6.25 grams for a total of 12.56 grams each 18.5 mm.
