L. H. Vance. "New Sheriff In Town". L. H. Vance, a portrait artist in Chicago painted this absolutely wonderful portrait, oil and charcoal on board, of a young boy, with dreams of Cowboys and Indians apparent in the background. "New Sheriff in Town" or "Careful, You'll Shoot Your Eye Out" are two titles we were given by the estate. It is thought that this is the KISS record producer as a child but no written confirmation to that. He is dressed in a red cowboy hat and red silk cowboy shirt just like one of his singing cowboy heroes he enjoys at the movies. One of the very best children's portraits Goldberg Auctions has offered, the colors are exceptionally vibrant and the portrait itself beautifully rendered. This could easily been the cover of any number of magazines from the era or a fine children's storybook. This is premium 1950s kitsch and would be a highlight for any interior with an eye for mid-century modern. Estimated Value $600 - 1,000
