Henry Roberts Engraver & Print Seller. Calliope or English Harmony: A Collection (1739, 1st Edition, Exceedingly Rare). Two volume set entitled published in 1739 "Calliope, or English Harmony; a collection of of the most celebrated English and Scots songs engrav'd and embellished with designs adapted to the subject of each song taken from the compositions of the best masters, with the thorough bass and transpositions for the flute"
Engraved frontispiece as well as gorgeous engraved illustrations atop the pages of each song in this two volume hardcover set. Likely these two volumes were handsomely rebound at some point in time in brown leather and decorative paper. Pages are in miraculous near pristine condition with only the second volume's first three pages exhibiting damp-staining. However the second volume does have 3-4 engravings painted with colors the quality one sees in 19th and 18th Century maps that remain immensely popular.
A wonderful find, rare and in choice condition. Estimated Value $300 - 500
