Buckle, Henry Thomas. TRACTS OF FLAGELLATION: From the Original Editions 412/500. An early 20th century private printing with a limitation statement of 500 copies of which this is numbered 412. This private printing does have considerable history not the least of which if the author had the rights to print the contents. This book is clearly lifted from a prior collection of 7 volumes assembled by John Camden Hotten in the 1800s who reprinted 7 works of pornographic material from the late 18th Century. Printing history aside, this is an attractive diverse, and scarce set of works on flogging, beating, spanking, bums, rods, birch, and all things flagellatory. Full list of titles: 1. Sublime of Flagellation; 2. A Treatise of the Use of Flogging in Venereal Affairs; 3. Madame Birchini’s Dance; 4. Fashionable Lectures; 5. Lady Bumtickler’s Revels; 6. Exhibition of Female Flagellants in the Modest and Incontinent World; 7. Part two of The Exhibition of Female Flagellants. Book shows wear to boards which are colorfully papered, the front spine beginning to split at hinge. However the inside pages are clean and the spine itself quite stout. The spine is printed with the title, TRACTS OF FLAGELLATION, however there is no title page (as originally issued) and immediately begins with Sublime of Flagellation the first "chapter".
