US Supreme Court Justices: Oliver W. Holmes, Levi Woodbury, John H Clarke, Antonin Scalia, Antony Kennedy, Clarence Thomas, Wm. Brennan. Collection of letters and autograph of US Supreme Court Justices:
1.) Levi Woodbury: Free franked ALS dated 19th Dec. 1843 Washington City and letter is actually in response to a request for his autograph.
2.) Two covers addressed by Oliver Wendell Holmes to socialite Elizabeth Hine Cates of Youngstown, Ohio. Holmes well known for keeping correspondence with a great number of women on a social level.
3.) John H. Clark : Very long ALS also to Mrs. Elizabeth Hine Cates, here he writes with a heavy heart the passing of his sister, her decline in health and her death. Dated April 11, 1921, Washington D.C. on Supreme Court note paper. The letter comes with a 1½ page typed transcription.
4.) Antonin Saclia, a typed letter signed to a lawyer and friend in Miami, disappointed he did not catch in pompano on his fishing excursion, and that his assistant is scheduling a meeting with the YMCA. Scalia also adds that the lawyer instruct his assistant in how to spell Maureen! Signed informally Antonin and dated June, 1st, 1990 on Supreme Court letterhead.
5.) William Brennan thanking consignor of this collection for his nice note, dated March 29, 1984. on Supreme Court letterhead
6.) Clarence Thomas signing boldly a 4½ x 6" note card with Supreme Court of the US, Chambers of Justice Clarence Thomas printed along top.
7.) Antony Kennedy signing a 5 x 8 photo.
8.) Also added is a letter by J. Edgar Hoover dated 1947 thanking a gentleman for his letter as well as a cover signed by Superior Court Judge Tam Nomota. Estimated Value $400 - 600
