Hoover, Herbert and Harry Truman: Typed Letter Setter Signed as Commerce Secretary, 1927 and TLS as President, 1952. Herbert Hoover (1874-1964) Typed letter signed as US Secretary of Commerce, on Department of Commerce letterhead and dated May 26, 1927. Hoover has written to a Judge James H. Duffy a letter regarding the issue of traffic fatalities and the role of law enforcement in mitigating those fatalities. He notes the spike in these incidences due to the increases in heavy motor traffic as well as the potential for more over Summer. Blind embossed stamp seal by the Justice of the Peace for Deerfield Township, Illinois, is visible in lower left likely upon receipt of letter. Very fine with toning in three spots likely being filed with news clippings.

Harry Truman (1884-1972) Letter signed as President thanking a good friend and donor for his holiday gifts of foods, sweets, cigars and his support "during the the years of my incumbency (which) has meant a great deal to Mrs. Truman and me." 9 x 14" folded light green White House letterhead. Excellent condition. Also included a small photo signed and First Day Issue of Harry S. Truman 20¢ stamp. Estimated Value $400 - 700
