Excellent Collection of Graf Zeppelin/Hindenburg Ephemera: Volumes 1 & 2 Zeppelin World Trips over 300 Photos + Crew, Survivors, Ticket Book. Superb collection of historic Graf Zeppelin and Hindenburg materials:
1.) Volumes 1 & 2 in German boasting maps, images, lithos, engravings and over 300 silver-bromide photographs each 1½ x 2¼ of exceptional clarity. Both volumes display only minor evidence of handling. Spines are stout each with 40+ pages.
2) Rare original Luftschiff Graf Zeppelin ticket pouch to Spain, 1930. Made of deluxe heavy pulp and patterned paper with pouch actually stitched on sides making for an elegant presentation 5 x 10"
3.) Scarce steel plate engraving of the Graf Zeppelin hand tinted in indigo blue and signed below image by artist. Image is 3½ x 5" full sheet 6 x 9" having only minor foxing.
4.) Very scarce commemorative cover postmarked twice, Lakehurst N.J on August 1st and on verso August 2nd on the occasion of the Tactical Training Flight USS Akron Carrying Mail. Cover is signed by Frank Peckham, Aviation Chief Rigger who 7 years prior survived the USS Shenandoah when it crashed in Ohio.
5.) Six Survivors of The Hindendburg Disaster. Werner Franz, the last surviving member of the crew, he a 14 year old cabin boy who died in 2014 signing a large photo of the airship. Eugen Nunnenmacher, Dining Room Steward, Albert Stoffler, Pastry Chef, German Zettele, Chief Mechanic, Ernst Fischbach signed photo on Hindenburg and Phillip Lenz Chief Electrician
6.) Three crew members of the Graf Zeppelin, Wally Schlatermund (who went on to be the captain of Aristotle Onassis' yacht. Norbert Heiss, crew member and Karl Rosch, Engineer including the Graf Zeppelin round the world flign 8/7/29-9/4/1929 which the above books mentioned chronicle beautifully.
7.) Charles E. Rosendahl ANS in response to letter sent to him US Naval Air Station, Lakehurst N.J. saying he will look into the matter of the requested materials on dirigibles called They Were Dependable. Estimated Value $600 - 900
