The 1978 American Major League All Star Game was held July 11, 1978 in San Diego. The game had a total of 17 future Hall of Famers between the two teams. From the American League, 31 players have signed a pre-printed team roster plus Billy Martin, John McNamara and Don Zimmer as coaches and Dick Martin as trainer. There were nine future Hall of Famers playing on the league and five are included: Eddie Murray, Carlton Fisk, George Brett, Rich "Goose" Gossage, and Jim Rice.
