Lot 31

1794 Liberty Cap Half Cent. PCGS graded EF-45 and Del Bland graded VF-20. This was the Guide Book plate coin from 1982 through 1987. Further, the surfaces are a delightful combination of light to medium brown, with darker shades highlighting the devices. One tiny red speck below Liberty's chin in the field, and a minor tick below AL of HALF will serve as hallmarks. The reverse has minor porosity around the left side, with a spot of erosion near OF. Intermediate die state, with strong clash marks from the wreath around Liberty's head. Overall, this is a very appealing example of this date, however you grade it, we know it will be cherished by all future collectors.
Estimated Value $2,500 - 3,500.
Ex: 1978 ANA Sale, Bowers and Ruddy Galleries, lot 88, unknown, Jim McGuigan and our Benson sale, 2/01:160.
