1913 Buffalo Nickel. Type 1. PCGS graded Proof 66. A superb example of this rare proof issue. 1,520 were coined in proof, and of those, PCGS has graded 62 as PR66, with 22 graded higher. Light golden toning on both sides, and especially well struck. The proof issues are simply a far better rendering of the design concept, with the design elements bold. These were struck after February 17, 1913, and the design was changed later in the year to make the ground straight below the bison. Hence, this is a one year type coin.
