1866. Fractional Currency Shield, Gray Background. F-1382. . Fr-1382. The notes show average age and the background of the shield has been extensively touched up. This was done to cover over the ever present water stains which are seen on virtually every one of these popular shields. Apparently, these shields were stored somewhere soon after they were made, and most show water damage at the bottom. Nicely framed and always popular, despite the restoration done, this one will likely go to some numismatists office where it can be admired daily.
