Lot 1482

1896-S Morgan Dollar. PCGS graded MS-66. Perhaps a single bag of these turned up in the Treasury releases of the 1960s, and very few mint state one have been located. PCGS has graded less than 1,000 of these in mint state, and in gem condition of MS-65 and above, just 35 coins. In lofty grades like this MS-66 coin, PCGS has graded precisely 2 pieces, and 2 have been graded higher. This particular one is toned with golden hues on the obverse, and hazy gold on the reverse, but the coin remains extremely flashy and lustrous. Well struck and nearly free of the bagmarks that usually are found. A super gem for the specialist who demands the finest.
Estimated Value $27,000-UP.
