Lot 1194

1803 Draped Bust Dollar. Large 3. PCGS graded VF-35. Light steel gray in color and with average surfaces. We note adjustment marks on the left side of the obverse, some of which continue through Liberty's hair. We note one short scratch through the base of the N of UNITED. The reverse die was rotated about 20 degrees counterclockwise, as usual for this variety. Sharply struck on the right stars and most of the devices.
Estimated Value $1,200 - 1,400.
From the Benson collection and probably purchased from Ira S. Reed or James G. Macallister circa 1944-6 for $21.00.
