U.S. Military Single Shot Pistol Manufactured by Henry Aston of Middleton, Connecticut Dated 1850. Model 1842 was the last single shot smoothbore pistol issued by the US Army and remained in service into the first years of the Civil War. Pistol has a .54 caliber barrel with wood stock is of walnut with a brass barrel band, trigger guard, buttcap and back strap in polished brass. The lock plate is marked "MIddtn Conn, 1850" as well as "US H.Aston". Nice example with trigger mechanism working. Equally fine example as the 1847 dated pistol also in auction.
