Civil War: 9 Cartes de Visite by Brady, Pittock or Anthony: Generals Winfield Scott, George Meade, Joseph Hooker, Henry Hallec + More. During the Civil War. cartes de visite proved immensely popular as soldiers and the general population would have a means of inexpensively obtaining photographs and sending them to loved ones in small envelopes. Further, politicians and military leaders of the Civil War proved popular by collectors as well as myriad of celebrities.

Here are nine (9) cartes de visite, six identified in borders: A fantastic General Winfield Scott by Mathew Brady, General George Meade, General Henry Halleck, General Joseph Hooker, General Franz Sigel, and Brigadier General Alex Hayes. Also included are three other CdV that are not identified, but certainly men in Civil War uniforms. Clearly these cards were collected by a pro-Union American who identified their names within the card stock borders without encroaching on the actual images. Overall these are in excellent condition with adhesive remnants on verso from once being mounted in a folio or display. 4 x 2½". Estimated Value $600 - 1,000
