Rare Original Publications: The Barbarities of the Rebels (Atrocities by Confederate Soldiers) and Reminiscences of General Braxton Bragg. "The Barbarities of the Rebels" by John Russell Bartlett Printed in 1863 which was a highly sensational and unfounded propaganda alleging atrocities by the Confederate soldiers including cruelty towards Union prisoners, the murder of slaves and cowardly conduct. Both the North and South had such propaganda pieces published, but this 40 page pamphlet proved a thunderclap to rally the Union. Light dampstaining at top of all the pages otherwise the condition is remarkable for this paper booklet.
"Reminiscence Rare, one of 99 copies. Rare, one of 99 copies. Heaartman's Historical Series No 63. Stout, a former surgeon and Medical Director of the Hospitals of the Confederate Army of Tennessee, wrote this memoir of Gen. Bragg in 1876. Excellent copy
