34 Star American Flag ca. 1861, Civil War Era. Excellent Display Piece. Outstanding, vintage/antique, original, 34 star American flag dates to the opening of the Civil War. Kansas was admitted to the Union as the 34th state on January 29, 1861, about 2½ months prior to the start of the war at Fort Sumter. The 34th star representing Kansas was officially added on July 4th later that year and remained official until 1863. Flag clearly sewn to accommodate a guidon due to the fabric wrapped/folded over and sewn on left side. Cotton flag measures 18 x 24", the star configuration is 7-7-6-7-7 and having quite fine colors in spite of the natural overall toning of the fabric given the years. Displays beautifully and with frame measures 22 x 28". Fantastic relic from The Civil War, the scars apparent. Estimated Value $2,750 - 5,000

Realized $8,125
