Collection of 35+ Field Museum/Chicago Natural History Museum Postcards of 1930s of Dinosaurs Painted by Charles R. Knight, One Inscribed, Signed. Very scarce collection of postcards all having images of paintings and murals by Charles R. Knight. Knight (1874 to 1953) is famous for his ground-breaking depictions of dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals, and wildlife in general. Millions of people are exposed annually to this artist's works in major institutions around the world including the American Museum of Natural History, the Field Museum of Natural History, and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County.
What makes this collection great is there is a post card of his famous painting, "The Armored Stegosaurus" where he writes to the wife of Dr. Horace Wood, celebrated paleontologist in Montclair N.J. for sending him photos of his works at Princeton University dated Feb. 25, 1952. Post card authenticated by his granddaughter who overseas all Knight projects. All but a half dozen postcards have been written on. Also included are about 15 modern and in color images of his works. All in fine to excellent condition
Bonus: a signed hardback by Michael Crichton of thee of his works (Sphere, Congo and Eaters of the Dead) but best known for Jurassic Park. Estimated Value $250 - 400
