Late Roman, Superb High Karat Earrings, 4th-5th Century A.D. with Shield and Grape Clusters in Exceptional Condition. Dramatic pair of 22K (or higher) gold earrings from the 3rd Century A.D. in remarkable condition. One of the largest pair of ancient earrings in auction, Each earring consists of a hoop, a shield and a large cluster of grapes in fixed position at bottom of hoops. Earrings are almost 1½" in length, again in excellent condition, total weight 5.01 grams. Estimated Value $900 - 1,200
From the property of an East Coast collector acquired prior to 1979.
