Royals: Signed Military Commissions, George III (1803) and William IV (1833), 14 Dukes + Prince Philipp. Excellent Collection of manuscripts, documents and autographs of 19th Century Royalty plus a large collection of dukes and notables.
1.) George III: Vellum document signed, folio, St. James, October 1806 commissioning a James Gent as Adjutant in the 25th Regiment of Light Dragoons. Subsequently commission was crossed through. Countersigned by Castlereagh. Signed "George R", one immediately notes the blotting and shaky penmanship no doubt due to his lengthy mental and physical deterioration. 9½ x 13½" Very fine.
2.) William IV: Vellum document signed, folio, St. James, August 1833, commissioning a Donald McDonald as Captain of the 27th Regiment. Excellent condition with an exceptionally large, bold signature by "William R".
Also included are signatures by: Earl Marshall - Duke of Norfolk, George FitzRoy - 4th Duke of Grafton, Alexander Duff - 1st Duke of Fife, William Spencer - 6th Duke of Devonshire (and the Duchess), Augustus Charles Lennox FitzRoy - 7th Duke of Grafton, John Russell - 6th Duke of Bedford, Prince George - Duke of Cambridge (great dated signature on his letterhead), Prince Alfred - Duke of Saxe-coburg and Gotha, William Beauclerk - 8th Duke of St. Albans, Prince Arthur - Duke of Connaught and Strathearn, Ernest Augustus - Duke of Cumberland and Teviotdale, 3 x Arthur Wellesley - Duke of Wellington (2 autographs, one free frank), James Innes Ker - 5th Duke of Roxburghe and 2 x Alexander Duff - 1st Duke of Fife.
