Festival of Six (6) Kachina Dancer including "Deer" "Osok-China" "Fox" "Broad Face", "Mudhead" and a Hopi Dancer. Collection of 6 Kachinas ranging from 4¾" for "Mudhead" to 10 tall for "Deer". All are signed pieces.
1.) The "Deer" Kachina is a traditional representation as it is usually has two walking sticks to represent the legs of a deer. The entire Kachina is carved from wood even though the loin cloth, boots and sash appear to be leather due to the remarkable texturing in the painting. The collar, instead of fur or yarn is also carved of wood. The highlight is the headdress with a beautifully carved set of antlers. A really nice piece
2.) Miniature "Mudhead" Kachina with traditional mask and clowning as if carrying a purse and necklace.
3.) "Fox" Kachina with terrific headdress of tall ears and very obvious snout.
4.) "Broad Face" Kachina are warrior or guards that surround sacred Kachinas hence their intimidating look. Nice painting on leather sarong.
5.) "Osok-China" Kachina another guard or enforcer. notable by it's strip leather harness and intimidating headdress.
6.) "Hopi Dancer" in Kachina form complete with round dance hoops. Estimated Value $300 - 600
