Two Outstanding Hopi Indian Kachina Dolls: "Cow" Kachina Dated 1950 Artist Unknown, "Early Morning" Kachina by Garfield Nish, 1991. Two excellent Hopi Kachina dolls:
1.) Clearly the standout here is Wakas'katsina, the Cow Kachina, carver unknown. However underside is dated 1950, entitled "Cow" and one of the older pieces in the entire collection. Great details in the painting, use of yarns and actual hide. The carving is spectacular including the carved wood sash tied at the waist, with ends dangling at side and down the back which were then highly decorated. Kachina had a bit of dust given it's age that was able to be blown clean with compressed air. 15" tall.
2.) Early Morning Kachina by Garfield Nish having fine carving with decorated actual leather sash, feathers, yarn and thin painted canvas ceremonial cape. 16" tall including feather, signed, dated and titled by Nish on underside of base. Estimated Value $400 - 600
From the Collection of Sally Ann Skeoch.

Realized $250
