(Top of cover reads "Finland, Kuopio, Societtshus 1") Laroche was a professor at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory (1872–1875 and 1879) and later wrote reminiscences and numerous articles on the works of Tchaikovsky, other Russian and West European composers, and many performers He was a lifelong and very close friend of Tchaikovsky.
