Lot 458

Edison Player with Impressive Original Wood Edison Cygnet Horn. A commanding decor piece in this Edison wax cylinder, hand-crank player with its original cygnet (swan's neck) wood amplifier horn. In the day, "Big Horn Means Big Sound" and these large pieces proved very much the norm. Player is operational however the reproducer needs servicing***. Player did not come to us with a domed lid as the hardware support for the horn and the horn itself was the permanent display. Player is 6 x 16 x 8.5" and the horn alone is 35" tall 22" deep and the flare is 22 x 22". Partial hairline split in horn which in no way compromises integrity or the structure. The oak cabinet and player itself are very clean, the Edison logo very fresh looking which adds great appeal. This lot will require to separate shipments. Two wax cylinders included.
***There are numerous antique phonograph dealers on the internet who service these parts on average for $40 by simply mailing the small part to them. Estimated Value $500 - 1,000

Realized $1,248
