Sandburg, Carl; Literary Giant of the 20th Century, ALS, Handsomely presented (1878-1967) Carl Sandburg enjoyed one of the most celebrated and lauded career of the the 20th Century. He was awarded three Pulitzer Prizes, two for poetry, one for his biography of Abraham Lincoln and whose impact on American literature and history is almost without peer. ALS executed in pencil on hotel stationery dated February 8th (no year) Northhampton, Mass. to a Mr. Peffer on arriving in NYC at Grand Central asking him to meet him there or if not, at his publishers, Harcourt Brace & Co. Signed "Faithfully Carl Sandburg". Examined in frame, note was folded three times, with a slip of tape at fold line under Peffer. Otherwise very clean and exceptionally legible with a bold signature. Note is 8 x 5½" very nicely framed in gilt wood 14.25 x 18" which includes a fine portrait of the author. Estimated Value $500 - 900
