Jean-Jacques Caffieri. Bust of Madame du Barry. (French 1725-1792) Stunning French terracotta bust portrait from the 19th Century of Madame du Barry (Jeanne Bécu) the last mistress of Louis XV and Parisian sensation until court rivalry after the King's death found her eventually imprisoned for treason and sentenced to death. Terracotta Bust of Madame du Barry 19th Century, after a model by Jean-Jacques Caffieri. Inscribed clearly on verso Caffieri, bust is in superior condition, elegant and drop dead beautiful. We note only a small edge break (quarter to half inch) on back of pedestal, likely done decades ago that in no way impacts the stability or the aesthetics of this piece.
