Traditional. Pair of Indian Mughal Miniature Watercolor Paintings ca. 1950s. Pair of Indo-Persian hand painted miniature watercolor paintings with Arabic, Persian writing. Stunningly rendered on hand distressed paper, the detail and craftsmanship by the artists are extraordinary and beautifully highlighted in gold gilt inks. The intricacy and artistry are akin to the very best artists who paint Russian lacquer boxes however here, the amount of storytelling in these miniatures far exceed those of Russian fairy tales. The density of the scenes impress, and again the artistry is remarkable. One is 11 x 7" the other 7 x 11" and both handsomely framed and matted to 17¾ x 13" and 13" x 17¾.
Also included a very informative folio on early Mughal paintings by Lalit Kala, Series Portfolio No. 24. Estimated Value $250 - 500
