Hirschfeld, Al. "M. Butterfly". (1903-2003) Immensely popular American caricaturist who also proved one of the most important figures in contemporary illustrations influencing two generations of artists, cartoonist and illustrators with his pure lines in black ink. During his 80 years actively working, Hirschfeld chronicled nearly all the major entertainment figures of the 20th century on stage, film, radio and television. Goldberg Auction's is auctioning nearly 20 of his signed, numbered, limited edition lithographs of some of his most popular works.

M. Butterfly: Landmark drama based on the real life Boursicot spy case in 1986 and intertwined with the opera, Madame Butterfly. This is a particularly striking litho with the lithograph printed, signed by Hirschfeld and numbered on rice paper and does incorporate colors in the headdress. Near to mint condition in mat, 25 x 20½" AP XV/XV. One of Hirschfeld's most distinct works. Estimated Value $400 - 600
