Hirschfeld, Al. "The Classic Comedians: Laurel & Hardy and Abbott & Costello" Signed & Numbered Lithograph. (1903-2003) Immensely popular American caricaturist who also proved one of the most important figures in contemporary illustrations influencing two generations of artists, cartoonist and illustrators with his pure lines in black ink. During his 80 years actively working, Hirschfeld chronicled nearly all the major entertainment figures of the 20th century on stage, film, radio and television. Goldberg Auction's is auctioning nearly 20 of his signed, numbered, limited edition lithographs of some of his most popular works.
"The Classic Comedians: Laurel & Hardy and Abbott & Costello" an absolutely fantastic piece of the two comedic teams whose works are as popular today as they were then. Hirschfeld has added a sepia wash to the illustration to evoke vintage photography as he did with the "Casbalanca" lithograph also in this auction. Examined in frame which is in excellent condition, lithograph is in near to mint condition, 21 x 12½" lithograph framed to 29 x 20". #87/200.
