Hirschfeld, Al. Two Lithographs: "High Noon" & "Love Among The Ruins" Signed Editions. (1903-2003) Al Hirschfeld combined black and white linear drawing with portraiture to develop one of the most innovative and iconic visual languages. Known as one of the most influential caricaturists in history, Hirschfeld went on to capture countless celebrities and Broadway stars with little more than his expressive black lines; a career with the NY Times spanning 75 years. Pairing two lithographs that celebrate the only films two giant leading men paired with two legendary actresses. Gary Cooper with Grace Kelly and even more surprising it had never happened before, Laurence Olivier with Katherine Hepburn. "HIGH NOON" considered one of the greatest Westerns ever made are captured perfectly in this portrait with both in costume. 19 x 15", Edition 30/160 with Hirschfeld signing in lower right corner, presented in a cloth mat and in superior condition. LOVE AMONG THE RUINS, remarkably the only pairing of acting titans, Hepburn and Olivier, in a made for television event movie on ABC and directed by the brilliant George Cukor.
