Hirschfeld, Al. (Two Signed Lithographs) "Great Songwriters" and "Vladimir Horowitz" Limited Signed Editions. (1903-2003) Al Hirschfeld combined black and white linear drawing with portraiture to develop one of the most innovative and iconic visual languages. Known as one of the most influential caricaturists in history, Hirschfeld went on to capture countless celebrities and Broadway stars with little more than his expressive black lines; a career with the NY Times spanning 75 years. Two lithographs signed. Vladimir Horowitz at the piano and American popular songwriters featuring Cole Porter, Dorothy Fields, Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Harold Arlen, Hoagy Carmichael, Ira Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, Johnny Mercer, Larry Hart and Richard Rodgers. Songwriters is 28.25 x 26.25" Edition 98/225 and Horowitz is 21.5 x 17. 5", Edition AP VIII/XII, both signed in pencil in lower right corners and both presented in cloth mats.
