Hirschfeld, Al. "There's No Business Like Show Business" Signed Edition 73/175. (1903-2003) Al Hirschfeld combined black and white linear drawing with portraiture to develop one of the most innovative and iconic visual languages. Known as one of the most influential caricaturists in history, Hirschfeld went on to capture countless celebrities and Broadway stars with little more than his expressive black lines; a career with the NY Times spanning 75 years. Hirschfeld's composite caricatures of stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood and entertainers are great fun and his most popular. Here we spot John Wayne, Henry Fonda, Clark Gable, Vivian Leigh, Alfred Hitchcock, Yul Brynner, Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin, Elvis Presley, Judy Garland, Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Natalie Wood, Louis Armstrong, Katherine Hepburn, Steve McQueen, James Dean and surprisingly, John Lennon! 21½ x 29½" signed by Hirschfeld in pencil in lower right corner, Edition 73/175 presented in cloth mat and in superior condition. Estimated Value $800 - 1,200
