Green Acres, Arnold Ziffel's Bed. Arnold The Pig's Bed from the Hit Television Series (1965-1971) Television Pop-Culture History. Green Acres (1965-1971) proved a sensation for CBS starring Eddie Albert and Eva Gabor. The colorful characters of Hooterville won Americans over but nothing like Arnold the Pig. Introduced first in "Petticoat Junction" Arnold was the "son" of Fred and Doris Ziffel a childless couple who took Arnold in as their son, and all of Hooterville accepted him as such….except Oliver, Albert's character. Arnold the Pig proved a huge pop culture sensation and remains so now. Frank Inn trained all the iterations of Arnold who truly was behind making Arnold the Pig a star. From the famous 1983 auction held at Butterfield's Auction in Los Angeles, CINEMA MERCANTILE's LIQUIDATION AUCTION, historic props such as the piano and furnishings from CASABLANCA all made history and have again being re-auctioned as jaw-dropping prices. Arnold the Pig's bed was lot 89 in that same auction held in 1983 and to our knowledge has never appeared since.
